So, if frosty scenes straight out of a period drama, or candles and twinkling lights excite you, read on to see how this season might be your perfect match.
If you can’t rely on the weather, embrace it!
On a winter wedding date, there’s no expectation of sunshine, and no need for contingency plans in case of rain. Bath’s beautiful architecture is just as enchanting on a frosty day, and you can make your celebrations really cosy.
Cooler and shorter days with darker skies lend themselves to late afternoon and evening ceremonies and receptions.
Forget summer brights and salads! There are so many gorgeous winter theming opportunities!
At the Roman Baths & Pump Room, enjoy a torchlit ceremony beside the steaming Great Bath, followed by mulled wine and a cosy dinner on the Terrace. Guests can bundle up in matching pashminas, stylish keepsakes that keep the chill at bay. Choose hearty, spiced dishes, and a celestial theme with navy, silver, and gold, inspired by Luna, the Roman Moon Goddess.

For nature lovers, a rustic theme at the Temple of Minerva might suit, with moss, branches, pinecones and twinkling fairy lights, or opt for rich jewel tones. The venue has underfloor heating so it’s a warm and welcoming space whatever the season.

With opulent plasterwork and earthy green walls, the Banqueting Room at the Guildhall is suited to natural evergreens and berry hues, or how about marrying at Twixt-mas and really indulging in some Christmas sparkle?

A celebration to look forward to
After Christmas, Winter can feel like just a long wait until Spring. Plan your wedding in January or February and you and your guests will have something joyful to anticipate. Or perhaps you might elope? Bath’s Historic Venues partner with Hotel Indigo for a Roman Baths elopement package; the hotel is a short walk away with rooms that are luxurious and comforting.
Are you a hopeless romantic? There is still 2026 Valentines Day availability at the Roman Baths and Temple of Minerva.
You can make some seasonal savings!
Suppliers are often booked months in advance for summer weddings. But winter is a quiet season, which means your ideal team is more likely to be available —and might even have a few winter discounts to offer.
At Bath’s Historic Venues, venue hire rates are subject to a 15% discount in January and February and there is also a discounted Winter Package available at the Temple of Minerva.
Winter is the ideal time for a long-haul honeymoon, so those savings might be particularly useful!
